About Durga Puja Guide
Last reviewed:
Durga Puja Guide is an independent reference to the Durga Puja festival in Kolkata and the celebrations held around it in other cities. It is built around three questions a visitor genuinely has: which celebrations are worth travelling to, when are they open, and how do I reach one without guessing. Right now the guide tracks 734 pandal celebrations across Kolkata, each with its own page.
Who publishes this site
Durga Puja Guide is published by Durga Puja Guide, an independent festive reference that is not a registered company and is not affiliated with any puja committee, club or organisation listed here. Nothing on this site is commissioned, sponsored or paid for by the committees whose pages you are reading.
Editorial responsibility for the accuracy of the data rests with the Durga Puja Guide editorial team, reachable at the address below. If a record here is wrong, the committee it describes can claim the page and have it corrected — see the corrections section below.
Every page carries the same operator details: the publishing name, the postal address, and a monitored contact address. They appear in the footer of every page, on the contact page, and in the structured data attached to the site.

What you will find here
A page for every tracked pandal, carrying its address, opening hours, organising committee, nearest metro station with a computed distance, and parking information where it is on record.
Festival guides that do not change year to year: the five-day sequence explained day by day, the history of the tradition, and what each ritual means.
Practical planning pages — a pandal-hopping planner, a metro and travel guide, and an emergency contacts list for visitors.
Live crowd and status updates during the festival, where they are available.
Where the data comes from
Pandal basics — name, organising committee and address — are recorded row by row in our own dataset, from information published by the committees themselves and from publicly available listings. We keep the source record, not a copy of somebody else's write-up.
Opening and closing times follow the standard five-day sequence, adjusted where a committee has published different timings for its own pandal.
The nearest metro station is calculated, not typed in. We hold a curated table of Kolkata Metro stations with their coordinates, and compute the straight-line distance from each pandal's own coordinates. The figure therefore differs on every page and can be re-derived by anyone who checks our method.
Founding year appears only where a committee has published one. As of this review, 216 of the 734 records carry a founding year; we do not estimate the remaining 518.
How the 2026 theme is handled
The theme is the single most searched thing about a pandal and the easiest field for anyone to fill in with a guess. So we show it only when a committee has disclosed it. As of this review, 89 of the 734 records carry a disclosed 2026 theme.
On the remaining pages the theme is stated as not yet disclosed, rather than filled with a plausible-sounding sentence. A page that is honest about a gap is more useful than one that hides it, and a wrong theme costs a visitor a wasted journey.
How the page text is written
Every sentence on a pandal page is assembled from that pandal's own stored record plus arithmetic on it — the distance to a metro station, the pandal's standing among the celebrations tracked in the same area, the year it was founded. Nothing about decoration quality, idol makers, awards or crowd size appears, because none of that is in our data, and an invented claim about a real neighbourhood committee is worse than a short page.
Where the record has nothing to say, the sentence is left out instead of being padded. That is why a pandal with a founding year, a disclosed theme and metro coordinates gets a longer page than one without them, and why some pages are deliberately brief.
Corrections
If you are part of a committee and something on your pandal's page is wrong — an address, a timing, the theme, the committee's own name — tell us and we will change it. Committee-submitted corrections are the fastest and most reliable route, and we treat them as such rather than as requests from a stranger.
Verified corrections are applied to the live dataset and reflected on the page without a redeployment of the site.

What we do not publish
This is the part worth reading. The list below is what separates this guide from a directory that exists only to sell advertising space.
- No pandal, committee or organiser pays to be listed, ranked, featured or removed.
- Advertising is sold separately and never affects a listing, a position in a directory, or any editorial description.
- No paid placements and no paid reviews. A 'Verified Committee' tick is free: it goes on by hand, only after a person has read the documents that committee emailed us.
- No wholesale copying of descriptions from other listings. Where our record is thin, the page says so.
- No invented facts. If we do not know it, we leave it out rather than writing something that sounds right.
How often we update
The pandal record is refreshed on a published schedule, and committee corrections are applied as they arrive rather than waiting for the next refresh. Before each festival the guide pages are re-checked, because festival dates, rituals and transport arrangements change annually even when the pandals do not.
This page itself carries its own review date below, separate from the dataset's last-modified date, so the two are never confused.
Common questions
Is the pandal information always up to date?
The record is refreshed on a published schedule, and committee corrections are applied as they arrive. Information does change during the festival itself, so we cannot promise completeness at every moment — if you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it.
My pandal is not listed. Can it be added?
Yes. Open the pandal page on this site and use the button in the committee card — the email it opens already lists what we are missing. Send the details along with your committee's documents, a person on our team reads them, and once it checks out the page gets a 'Verified Committee' mark. Adding a pandal costs nothing at any point.
Do you feature any pandal in particular?
No. Apart from advertising, no pandal, committee or organiser has any paid listing, ranking or placement.
Why is the theme left blank instead of guessed?
A guessed theme sends a visitor to the wrong pandal at the wrong time. Where a committee has not disclosed one, the page says so plainly.
Is the nearest metro distance typed in by hand?
No. It is computed from the coordinates of the metro station and of the pandal, which is why the figure differs on every page.
I found incorrect information. How do I report it?
Email [email protected] for anything about a committee or pandal page, or [email protected] for anything else.
How to check our work
Every claim above is checkable against the site itself — each page, the data behind it and the method are all published together:
